Daughters of Norway to learn Rosemaling

FALLBROOK – The next meeting of the Daughters of Norway, Hulda Garborg Lodge #49, will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 11 a.m. There will be an initiation of new members followed by a cultural program. Astrid Fisher is the vice president of the California Rosemaling Association and a Vesterheim Gold Medalist. She will present a program on rosemaling which is Norwegian for "decorative painting." Some art historians interpret "rose" as a reference to the rose flower, although the floral elements are often so stylized that no specific flower is identifiable and not used at all in some designs.

All women of Scandinavian heritage are welcome to attend the Daughters of Norway meetings. This month they will meet at the Norway Hall, 2006 E. Vista Way, Vista. Following the cultural program is a potluck lunch at noon and a business meeting at 12:45 p.m.
