Two Memorial Day observances offered in Fallbrook

FALLBROOK – Two observances of Memorial Day will be offered once again in Fallbrook this year – one with a historical Civil War focus and one traditional.

On Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m. the Sgt. William Pittenger Camp 21 of The Son’s of Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at the old Odd Fellows Cemetery (West Clemmens Lane at Alturas Rd.). This is open to the public and families are invited to learn more about the Civil War. The ground is uneven, so flat shoes are recommended.

On Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, at 11 a.m., the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1924 will sponsor its annual observance at the Masonic Cemetery, 1177 Santa Margarita Drive. The event will include guest speakers, Color Guard, Marine motorcyclists, the Fallbrook Chorale, and more. It is also open to the public.
