Art of the Avocado competition now open

FALLBROOK – The popular Art of the Avocado competition, part of the annual Avocado Festival, is now open, due to the generous sponsorship of Fallbrook Propane Gas Company.

The competition is open to anyone, of any age. Any artistic medium may be submitted; the only restriction is that the viewer can actually “see” an avocado somewhere in the work.

Competition takes place in two categories: 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional. Cash prices awarded in each are first place – $200, second place – $100, and third place – $50. In addition, Brandon Gallery will award a cash prize for its Brandon Gallery Director’s Award and La Caseta Fine Mexican Restaurant will sponsor the People’s Choice Award.

The entries in the Art of the Avocado competition will be on display at Brandon Gallery, 105 North Main Avenue from April 5 through 28, including the day of the Avocado Festival, Sunday, April 13.

Awards will be presented on festival day at 2 p.m. at Brandon Gallery.

Anita, thank you for this art competition!

Art is the expression of one human being to another, "I love you."

Anita, thank you for spreading love.

Art is not an expression of love, but any expression of the artist at any given time when paint hits paper. It also expresses hate, loneliness, fear and etc. to no one or to others. Also an artist throws paint on a canvas starting with nothing in the mind and creates.
