Plein air artist De'Armond featured at FAA's September meeting

FALLBROOK – Susan De'Armond will be the featured demonstrator at Fallbrook Art Association's (FAA) general meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10. Winner of many top awards in juried shows, De'Armond became an admirer of Impressionist painters while pursuing her bachelor of fine arts degree in interior design. The freshness of their work sparked her imagination.

A chance encounter with the Plein Air Artists of Riverside was a turning point. Their shared passion for capturing the Southern California ambiance was enough to get her hooked on plein air. Working in watercolor and oil, De'Armond has sought out instruction from Frank Eber, Fealing Lin, Mel Stabin, Tom Fong and, as of late, Thomas Schaller. She continues to explore various techniques as she hones her own style.

The general meeting will be held at the Fallbrook School of the Arts, at 310 E. Alvarado, and is open to the public.

At 5:30 p.m., FAA members are welcome to bring in one or two "paintings in progress" for a session with the featured artist demonstrator who will give suggestions for possible improvements. Refreshments will be served at 6:15 p.m., before a brief general meeting at 6:30 pm, followed by the demonstration, which ends at 8 p.m. Each demonstrator offers a workshop the following Sunday at the same location.

For more information on FAA see its online newsletters at www.fallbrookartassn.org. Detailed information on the featured guest artists is available in current newsletters at the beginning of each month preceding the meeting at which they demonstrate.
