Grand Tradition name Family-Owned Small Business of the Year

FALLBROOK – Don McDougal, president and CEO of Grand Tradition Estate and Gardens, has just been awarded the prestigious title of the 2015 Family-Owned Small Business of the Year by the SBA’s San Diego District.

Every year since 1963, the Small Business Association (SBA) takes the time to acknowledge and emphasize the impact of small business owners and outstanding entrepreneurs through National Small Business Week. Upon reviewing a host of nominees, distinguished panels apply rigorous standards in order to make their final selections in several different business categories.

SBA will honor America’s top entrepreneurs at this year’s National Small Business Week events during the week of May 4-8. This year’s theme will be “SBA: Dream Big, Start Small.”

In 1984, their love for Fallbrook inspired Beverly and Earl McDougal to create a community gathering place that would capture the idealized romance of another era, providing couples with a storybook venue for wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Over the years, the family’s vision has been nurtured and subsequently flourished under the leadership of Don McDougal. The estate and its gardens are now open to the public year round, providing jobs for 69 employees. The future holds expansion plans which include a Farmers Market, additional thematic gardens such as a Southwestern Cactus and Succulent Display Garden, Amphitheater, and Tuscan Vineyard with Wine Tasting Room.
