Kiwanis Clubs celebrates 90th anniversary

FALLBROOK — Tom Myers, president of the Fallbrook Kiwanis Club, announced that International Kiwanis was celebrating their 90th anniversary. The first Kiwanis Club was charted in Detroit, MI. There are 8,200 clubs with 280,000 members in 94 countries around the world. The Fallbrook Kiwanis Club was chartered on October 12, 1971.

Recently, President Myers presented two treasure chests full of books to the Head Start Project at Fallbrook Elementary School and the Fallbrook Child Development Center. The Fallbrook Kiwanis Club members donate thousands of hours annually in support of our community. Last year, Kiwanis Clubs raised $100 million in support of community projects. The continuing focus is called “Young Children Priority One.”

Anyone interested in learning more about Kiwanis services may visit the club at 7 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Lace Apron Restaurant.
