Resendiz Brothers silverleaf on China Airlines, The Voice floats at Rose Parade

Although the Rainbow nursery is called Resendiz Brothers Protea Growers, the farm also grows silverleaf trees. When the silverleaf growers Festival Artists Worldwide/Artistic Entertainment Services had been using for Rose Parade float decorations retired, the Azusa-based decorating company began working with Resendiz Brothers Protea Growers in 2008. The Resendiz Brothers silverleaf made its Tournament of Roses Parade debut in 2009, and the relationship has continued each year.

The 2014 Rose Parade included two floats with Resendiz Brothers foliage. The China Airlines float titled "Taiwan Dreams Rising" and promoting the Taiwan Tourism Bureau included hot air balloons which utilized the silverleaf. The NBC television program "The Voice" had a float called "Singing the Dream" which included Resendiz Brothers vegetation.

The hot air balloons on the China Airlines float included baskets which held human participants with the float. Rose Parade floats must be covered only with organic material, so what looked like a metal frame around the basket was actually silverleaf. "Whenever we need to make something look like metal, silverleaf is one of the ways," said Artistic Entertainment Services float designer John Ramirez.

The theme for the 2014 Tournament of Roses Parade was "Dreams Come True". Float awards are selected by a three-judge panel which assigns scores to each float based on creative design, floral craftsmanship, artistic merit, floral and color presentation, dramatic impact, and thematic interpretation. The China Airlines float won the International award, given to the most beautiful entry from outside the 50 U.S. states or the District of Columbia, for the third consecutive year and the fourth time in five years. Floats with Resendiz Brothers silverleaf also won the 2011 Judges' Special award for the most spectacular float in showmanship and dramatic impact, the 2011 Bob Hope Humor award for the most comical and amusing float, and the 2009 Extraordinaire award for the most spectacular entry over 55 feet in length.

Judging of singing talent is part of the show "The Voice", and the Rose Parade float included judges' chairs at the front of the float. Silverleaf was used to detail those chairs.
