Tom and Val Ewan have been co-directors of Rawhide Ranch since the change of ownership in April, 2000. They currently reside full-time at the ranch along with daughters, Maggie & Alissa. Tom previously worked in Program Development and Outdoor Education for the Boy Scouts of America for 20 years and Val was Visitor Services Coordinator for a children’s museum in the Chicago suburbs.

Rawhide Ranch is tucked away along Lilac Road in Bonsall (near Sullivan Middle School). For over 40 years campers have experienced a bit of the old west as they learn to ride and experience all the pleasures of ranch life. Under the new ownership, the ranch has continued to provide a high quality equestrian learning experience for campers from across the U.S. and abroad. While many of the campers are from the Southern California area, the past year also welcomed campers from 21 states and 9 countries.

The program is an overnight program designed for children ages 7-15 and features western-style horseback riding instruction, animal and horse science classes, vaulting instruction (gymnastics on horseback). Week-long programs for individual campers are available during summer, spring, winter breaks. Mid-week and weekend programs (Sept. through May) are also available for schools/youth groups and their chaperones. Rawhide Ranch is very proud to be nationally accredited by ACA (American Camp Assoc.) and CHA (Certified Horsemanship Assoc.)
