Waddell still operates Fowler Rooter and Plumbing

FALLBROOK — “Rumors of my demise are premature and greatly exaggerated,” paraphrases Harry Waddell in reply to the recent news of his and his wife, Sirina’s, pending retirements.

Harry owns and operates Fowler Rooter and Plumbing while Sirina multi-tasks as owner, salesperson, accountant, shipping and receiving clerk and janitor of her appliance store, Hometown Appliance Center.

“While it is true that Sirina is retiring at the end of April, I am still very much involved in providing my customers with a full range of plumbing products, installations, repairs, remodels, drain, service or just plain advice. Retirement for me will come in time, but for now I have a business to run,” Harry emphatically states. “Advice is probably the most valued service I can offer a customer. For 15 years I have seen which products are most durable, serviceable and cost effective. You can believe it when I say there is stuff out there that covers the full spectrum in all three categories. I recommend only those products that, over the years, yield the best value to my customers.”

In addition to all the usual plumber’s tasks, such as replacing water heaters, toilets, faucets, disposals and more, Harry spends several weekends a year re-plumbing mobile homes in the area with copper water pipes.

“I derive a great deal of satisfaction from my work,” he says. “I like to solve problems, make things work and help people live more comfortably without having to stress out over a plumbing problem.

“As to my retirement, there is a lot to be done before I can do that. I haven’t worked on every house in Fallbrook yet. Until I’ve accomplished that goal, I can’t retire. As for all the customers for whom I have worked on homes over the years, Sirina and I both appreciate them, their trust in us and their continued support. Fowler Rooter and Plumbing is one of the oldest businesses in Fallbrook and with any luck will continue here for years to come.”
