Jackson to study medicine in Australia

Recently, Robert Jackson of Del Mar was selected to participate in the International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation on Medicine in Australia from June 4 to June 15. Jackson will gain culturally enriching experience designed to add to each participant’s personal knowledge as well as academic and pre-professional profiles. Jackson was born in Fallbrook and is the son of Robert Jackson, a Fallbrook attorney, and his wife Lucy.

Jackson will visit the extraordinary cities of Sydney and Cairns and the distinguished halls of The University of Sydney School of Medicine and James Cook University. Through observation and dialogues with medical staff, participants will also gain perspective on how western doctors administer care of Australia’s many ethnic groups.

The program curriculum will introduce its participants to the pharmacology of the Aboriginal people and will provide a glimpse into current medical research being conducted at the Great Barrier Reef.

Jackson is presently a sophomore at UC Berkeley, majoring in integrative biology with a minor in Spanish. He is the nephew of Duane & Susan Urquhart of Fallbrook and Mike & Leslie Burgener of Bonsall.
