Keeping busy

The first month of 2005 has been a success for Fallbrook 4H members. Many members became part of the Jr. Advisory Board for the San Diego County Fair. Those members are Ashley and Wade Colburn, Melissa Morrison, Sean Ogden and Marissa Tescier. These members help decide all of the awards and activities that will take place during Market Week this summer. Decisions have already been made regarding the auction order and that all small animal champion winners will also be allowed to take their large species through the auction. The meetings will be held monthly and the 4H representatives will continue to keep the community updated with all the new fair activities.

On February 5 San Diego County 4H held an event called “Super Saturday” in Jamul. The event involved many county clubs providing hands-on activities for 4H youth. The teen council held a leadership session and encouraged more high school 4Hers to join the teen council program. This month teen council is having a fun ice skating meeting on Friday, February 11. Any 4Hers who are interested should contact Ashley Colburn.

The 2004-2005 4H State Ambassadors have been extremely busy planning a statewide community service project. Each year, many leaders from San Diego County attend a conference called the Western Regional Leadership Forum. This year, one day is dedicated to non-profit organizations that are coming to Sacramento to have hands-on activities and sessions for the 500 delegates who will be attending the conference. This project is the big activity that the ambassadors chose to host and will be held on February 26!

Fallbrook FFA will be having their next chapter meeting on February 24. The meeting will contain the annual Barnyard Olympics. This is one of the best meetings of the year, so FFA members, make sure to attend and don’t wear your Sunday best!

The FFA banquet is going to be here before we know it; March is only a month away. Members have been preparing for their chapter, state and American degrees, which will be presented at the banquet. The results are currently being tallied, so good luck to everyone!
