Penny Wars are here

Penny Wars, always an enjoyable competition at Sullivan, started early this week on Monday. Students bring in pennies to contribute to their own class points and other coins and dollar bills to ‘bomb’ other classes; bombing decreases the points added up from the pennies. The winning class and class who raises the most money will receive a party for the job well done. The profits of the Penny Wars are going to victims of the recent tsunami. Good luck to all the classes!

On Monday, the annual school art contest was held. The theme for this year was to design a reading poster. Many students of all grade levels entered, and many students came in during lunch to participate in the voting process as well. It was a great success and congratulations to the winners!

The Sullivan band and choir departments are currently working on pieces for the Disneyland field trips, which usually take place sometime in April or May. Our band director, Mrs. Sharpe, is working on selecting the songs the musical groups will perform in the competition. The trip and the competition are both favorite memories students in Mrs. Sharpe’s classes share and one of the most fun opportunities available to the students. We look forward to another great year!
