Applications are available for the 2005 Soroptimist International of Fallbrook scholarships. Soroptimist is offering three scholarships this year to local high school seniors. Students must be graduating from Fallbrook Union High School, Ivy High School or Oasis High School and must reside in the greater Fallbrook area.
The Education Scholarship is a $2,000 two-year award to a four-year college or university. The recipient must carry a minimum of 12 units to qualify. The payment of $500 will be paid each semester for two years for a total of $2,000.
The Junior College Scholarship is a $1,000 award to a student who will attend a local junior college and is intended to cover educational expenses during their first year at college. The recipient must carry a minimum of 12 units in order to receive or continue to receive this scholarship. The payment of $500 will be paid each semester of the first year for a total of $1,000.
The Vocational Scholarship is a $500 award to a student who will be pursuing his or her education at a trade school, or by trade-related course at a local community college. Auto mechanics, culinary arts, cosmetology and medical assisting are examples of studies that would qualify for this scholarship.
All three scholarships require that an official school transcript from the most recent semester be submitted with the application.
Applications forms are available at Fallbrook Union High School Career Counseling Center. Completed applications must be received by April 1. Applicants are advised to obtain a packet as soon as possible.
