Angel Romero conducts symphony orchestra and westwind brass

FALLBROOK — One of the world’s leading Spanish maestros of the guitar, Angel Romero, will be the guest conductor with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra and Westwind Brass on February 13 at the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts in Fallbrook.

A master performer of his generation, Mr. Romero is in demand in major cultural centers worldwide, both as a performer and a conductor. His extraordinary artistry, both musical and aesthetic, will be evidenced as he conducts the orchestra and brass in a variety of pieces by Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodin, Rachmaninoff, and Beethoven. Other pieces for strings alone will include Handel’s “Concerto Grosso, Op. 6 No. 10,” Elgar’s “Serenade in E, Op. 20,” Turina’s “La Oracion del Torero,” and Grieg’s “Holberg Suite, Op. 40.”

Presented by the Fallbrook Music Society, this concert will take place on Sunday, February 13, and is the third in a season of five concerts. Concerts begin at 3 p.m. at the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts, Fallbrook, with a conductor’s preview at 2:30 p.m. Tickets and reservations are available at (760) 451-8644.
