Back to Bongo's on April 28

La Paloma GATE students in Fallbrook will present the Southern California premiere of the musical “Back to Bongo’s” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, at Bower’s Auditorium, Potter Jr. High, 1743 Reche Road. The story takes place in 1955 as high school seniors prepare for graduation and the big party at Bongo’s Burger Shack. The night before graduation, Bongo’s burns to the ground and Peggy Sue Mitchell, the senior class president, is blamed. Ten years later, at the reunion, the graduates go back in time to solve the mystery and clear Peggy Sue’s name. Some of the memorable high school characters are Brock the Jock, Romeo (Bongo’s version of Fonzie) and the Juliets, Ditzy Ditto, Tripper, Deuce (the two-timer) and the nerds. “Back to Bongo’s” includes 12 musical numbers with singing and dancing reminiscent of the ’50s ‘Do Wop’ songs. The audience will rock around the clock and tap their toes at this look back at sock hops, teen angels and high school memories. Tickets are $5 for adults and students. Kids under 5 are free.
