Bluegrass Night in Fallbrook

The Witcher Brothers and Susie Glaze with Hilonesome will share the stage for a night of bluegrass in Fallbrook this Saturday, Feb. 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Hilltop Center, 331 East Elder. Susie and Hilonesome open. A native of Tennessee, Susie grew up in the shadow of the Grand Ole Opry and started performing in Nashville at the age of 16 singing country music. She made the conversion to bluegrass while performing in Roger Miller’s Big River on Broadway in New York. She is backed by string band Hilonesome with Steve Rankin on mandolin, Fred Sanders on bass, Roger Phillips on banjo and Rob Carlson on guitar and dobro.

The Los Angeles-based Witcher Brothers are the featured band. They have been performing across the country for 20 years and are considered one of the hottest bands in the Southwest. They have four albums to their credit. Their name is something of a bluegrass joke. Founder Dennis Witcher, award-winning mandolinist and vocalist, is the father, not the brother, of Gabe on fiddle and Michael on dobro. The other “brothers” are Andrew Paddock, an original member whose driving bass style has contributed greatly to the powerful Witcher sound, Kevin Gore on banjo and Tony Recupido on guitar.

This concert is sponsored by the Fallbrook Americana Music Series. Tickets are sold at Major Market and at the door. Call (760) 723-7255 for information.
