FHS Drama to produce 'The Crucible'

FALLBROOK — Students from Fallbrook High School’s Drama Department plan to produce Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” to continue the success of the 2003 student production of Neil Simon’s “Rumors.” Students are covering every aspect, from directing, casting, designing costumes, publicity, and all other elements of production, under the guidance of teacher Florence Villane. Each act has its own director. Taking Act I is Brittany Alkema, who is also playing Elizabeth Proctor. Directing Act II is Kate Eastman, who is starring as Abigail Williams. Act III is under the control of Alie Stewart, also a part of the ensemble. Finally, Act IV is being directed by Matthew Schnarr, who stars as Reverend Parris.

Rehearsals have taken place during class for the past few months to prepare for the shows on Feb. 4 and 5. On Feb. 4 there are two shows, one taking place at 10 a.m. for Fallbrook High’s English classes, the other at 7:30 p.m. for the public. On Feb. 5 there is one show at 7:30 p.m. for the public.

The Drama Department chose this play not only because it is part of the Fallbrook High 11th-grade curriculum but also because it is a Pulitzer Prize-winning production. Other credits include Millie’s Antique Shop for the tailoring of the costumes and Elvira Perez for the lighting design. Elvira also worked on the high school’s majorly successful production of “The Foreigner” last fall. Tickets are available at the box office before each performance. Please attend a good family show.
