'Laundry and Bourbon' and 'Lone Star' at Palomar July 15-17

SAN MARCOS — Palomar College’s performing arts department will present two one-act companion plays by James McLure, “Laundry and Bourbon” and “Lone Star,” at the Howard Brubeck Theatre July 15, 16 and 17.

Set in Maynard, TX, and directed by Palomar College Theatre students Sarah Gauthier and Stacy Michelle Walker, the plays mix drama with offbeat humor to illuminate both sides of a marriage between Elizabeth and Roy Caulder.

In “Laundry and Bourbon,” Elizabeth spills plenty of liquor and several small town secrets while folding laundry with her friend Hattie and unwanted drop-in Amy Lee Fullernoy.

“Lone Star finds Roy,” a fading Vietnam Vet, downing cheap beer and reliving the good old days with brother Ray in a local bar. The conversation becomes testy when Cletus T. Fullernoy joins in, with Ray eventually spilling secrets of his own.

Shows on July 15 and 16 begin at 8:00 pm. Sunday matinee on July 17 begins at 2 p.m. Palomar College is located at 1140 W. Mission Road in San Marcos. For tickets and information, call the Howard Brubeck Theatre Box Office at (760) 744-1150, ext. 2453.
