Their self-titled debut album has already been labeled, “…an instant classic” by fans like Grant-Lee Phillips, Margaret Cho, and Mark Flanagan, owner of the legendary Largo-Los Angeles. Critics seeking to capture the vibe of this band have described it as, "...Multiple shades of Amazing" and "Fiona Apple meets the Killers with a dash of the Clash".

Their Major Label Debut, The Perfect Crime,(February 28, 2012) is receiving rave reviews. The young ensemble is led by singer/composer, Mela Lee, with music direction by vibe/keyboard player Alexander Burke, Aron Forbes on guitar, Matt Lucich on Drums, and an anchor of Bass by Gordon Bash. Their sound is sweet, sexy, nuanced, and smart -with a healthy dash of irreverence.

What others have been saying-

IROM (International Review of Music) - "The 'Perfect Crime' was well worth the wait. {...}a highlight of the album is the acoustic version of 'The Perfect Crime', featuring Matthew Santos in a duet with Lee. This is dark enough to make Leonard Cohen sulk in silence for a month. The harmonies produced by the two are brilliant... 'The Perfect Crime' is blissfully dark, harmonically and lyrically inventive, and honest."- Devon Wendell

SomethingElseReviews - "Joy and Magical Music Elixir: -Fiona Apples meets the Killers with a dash of the Clash {Magnolia Memoir} separates itself from an ever-burgeoning series of art-pop bands emerging out of the Los Angeles folk/pop club scene... 'The Perfect Crime' will only serve to bolster a reputation already in steep ascent" - Nick DeRiso

PopMatters.com- "Magnolia Memoir creates a convincing noir atmosphere. The title track, in both its standard and acoustic versions, is a killer take on the femme fatale archetype. Vocalist Mela Lee is a big part of the album's success...She's sultry, alluring, fiery{...}The Perfect Crime is a listen to die for" - Brice Ezell

Direct Current Music: RADAR - "In possession of a voice that's part Billie Holiday smoky seduction and part Gwen Stefani coy pop vixen, Lee and her band swing, shake, strut and smash their way through an ever shifting melange of styles with unrestrained glee on their new album 'The Perfect Crime' (February 28, Peak/E1). Magnolia Memoir keeps things sleek and playful -- though you know there's something slightly dark and demented lurking behind the smile, a ragged run in the nylons and a scuff or two in the patent leather pumps." - Dave Curits

The Key Philadelphia- WXPN - with JD Souther -"Had Magnolia Memoir toured with anyone less impressive, it would have stolen the show. Mela Lee’s voice is meltingly sweet and, as her bio promises, she actually has a five octave range...A captivating blend of the sexiness of jazz and the honesty of Rock" -Naomi Shavin

"By far one of the best acts I've heard...EVER"

-Lary LeBlanc- The HotSeat

"Mela Lee has the voice of an angel and can break the heart of Heaven"

- Andrae Crouch - Gospel Legend

"Mela Lee and Magnolia Memoir create an ambiance that conjures up greatness"
