Music Society installs new director

At its January board meeting, the Fallbrook Music Society installed Genie Summers (L.) as a director. Genie will serve as chair of the Music for Youth committee (formerly Music by Volunteers), replacing Bob Freaney, who so admirably served in this capacity for many years. “Genie is an enthusiastic, dedicated individual,” says Brenda Montiel, president of FMS (R.). “She is an important advocate for the Kodaly Choral Music program in our public schools, having served as teacher at Fallbrook Street School for 18 years.”

The Music Society has a season of five symphony concerts a year presented in the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts, a Symphony Pops Concert on the Green each August at the Grand Tradition, Symphony for Youth concerts at Potter Junior High twice a year, and the Kodaly choral program for grades K-6 in Fallbrook Street and Live Oak schools.
