New exhibit to be unveiled

On Sunday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. in celebration of a significant contribution to Fallbrook’s past, the Fallbrook Historical Society invites all members and friends of the museums to attend the dedication ceremonies for an outstanding newly expanded exhibit. The collection is a tribute to the late Gino Somacal, who hand-crafted (during a 33-year span) the historic Fallbrook buildings shown in miniature. Additionally, there is a functioning model railroad, an exact duplicate of the original, which serviced Fallbrook at the turn of the 19th century. Donated by his widow, Babs Reader Somacal, this exhibit has quickly become a “magnet attraction” to all visitors. Dedication will be by Rev. Fr. Don Kroeger of St. John’s Church. Refreshments will be served. Visit our museums Thursdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. or by appointment, 260 Rocky Crest Rd., or phone (760) 723-4125.
