Professional bull riding returns to Pala May 4-5 with added attractions

PALA – Pala Casino Spa & Resort will once again host a Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Touring Pro Division event on May 4 and 5 at its rodeo grounds. It promises to be a weekend filled with rank bulls, high scores, big trucks, and entertainment.

The Pala Touring Pro Division event will again showcase some of the most promising rising stars of the PBR riding alongside fan favorites and veterans and all competitors will face off against the most famous bucking bulls in the world.

The Touring Pro Division offers bull riders the opportunity to compete in PBR-sanctioned events while they earn prize money to qualify for the PBR’s elite Built Ford Tough World Finals presented by Wrangler. Rubens Barbosa from Decatur, TX, out-pointed 70 riders to win $6,259.40 and the third Pala PBR Touring Pro Division Championship on October 7, 2012.

“Mutton bustin’”

A new addition this year will be a “Mutton bustin’” event in which boys and girls, ages 4 to 7, who weigh 60 pounds or less, can attempt to ride sheep for a minimum of six seconds. The children will be selected for the event through a radio promotion opportunity. (Registration and information at http://www.kson.com). Safety helmets and vests will be provided. However, riders may wear their own safety equipment provided that equipment meets standards. Chaps are optional and may be worn. No ropes or spurs will be allowed.
