Houghton's "Natural Gourmet" Cookbook purely homemade

From the creation to each recipe, the photographs, tips and suggestions Karen Houghton, RN, has created a homemade masterpiece in her “Natural Gourmet” Cookbook.

“The book has been in my mind ever since I started teaching cooking classes at my church,” Karen said. Many will remember classes Karen has been teaching for 15 years at the Seventh Day Adventist church located just north of the Fallbrook-Rainbow exit off I-15.

Many classes and many students later, Karen was ready last year to start “the book.”

A 224-page beauty, each of the 100+ recipes have four photographs…all of which were prepared, styled and photographed in natural light in Karen’s backyard.

In the book you’ll find solid information about fiber and other important nutrients. Karen says that research shows that a person requires about 40 grams of fiber each day and according to Karen, “most people consume about 10 grams of fiber daily.” All of her recipes note the nutritional components…including the amount of fiber per serving.

Karen also includes ideas for giving food in food gift baskets, lots of healthy tips and living suggestions.

Karen and I have agree: “You are what you eat, digest and absorb.”

With the debut of Karen’s “Natural Gourmet” book we all have one more tool to live better…and enjoy delicious dining.

Karen will be signing her book and sampling from her book at Major Market tomorrow.

Stop by and meet Fallbrook’s newest author and have a taste of naturally delicious gourmet food.
