Tips for Dining Out

Egg Drop Soup

At least two others in my office agree that the Egg Drop Soup at Great China Restaurant (835 South Main — near Major Market) is simply the best! It is creamy and tasty, and not too salty. The soup accompanies any full meal order whether it is lunch or dinner. Crunchy noodles make a delicious complement to the dish and are served with the soup.

Yummiest Yogurt

I look forward to treating myself to non-fat and low-fat frozen yogurt at Yogurt Palace (130 S. Main St.)! While vanilla and chocolate are always good choices, I am very fond of the coconut, Heath, and strawberry cheesecake flavors too! The variety of toppings is great! My favorite is the fresh sliced strawberries and bananas on top of vanilla yogurt! Yum, yum, yum!

Shivered Coffee

At the new Café Bravo (corner of Fig and Main) I discovered a new treat. When we had an 80-degree day last week, I was looking for a bit of relief and ordered what they call Shivered Coffee. The drink is a cup of shaved ice flavored with latte or mocha and mixed with coffee, then flavored with any of the 20 or so syrups they have to offer. The result is a delicious and refreshing drink!

Crab and Shrimp Enchilada

I was in the mood for seafood but my family wanted Mexican, so I was outvoted and we ended up at El Jardin (1581 South Mission Road). I was happy when I discovered the Crab and Shrimp Enchilada, which is a mixture of the seafood wrapped in a corn tortilla and garnished with a delicious tomatillo sauce. The result is a light dish that satisfied my seafood craving and didn’t leave me feeling guilty for eating too much!
