Care Van celebrates first anniversary

FALLBROOK — The Care Van, a senior transportation service funded by the Fallbrook HealthCare Foundation, celebrated its first year of operation on April 22.

During its first year, the Care Van gave more than 3,100 rides to seniors going to medical and dental appointments, physical therapy, pharmacies, two major shopping centers with grocery stores and the Fallbrook Adult Day Care Center.

“We love helping seniors remain independent and healthy by getting around town for their appointments and errands,” said Diane James, the Care Van driver.

“Any senior living in the Fallbrook, DeLuz, Rainbow and Bonsall areas may call (760) 723-8182 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to schedule a ride,” said Judy Larsen, the van scheduler. “We just ask that they call at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a ride.”

The Care Van is funded by donations to the Fallbrook HealthCare Foundation.
