Celebrate National Garden Week in Fallbrook

FALLBROOK — The National Garden Club designates the first full week in June as a special time to focus public attention on garden clubs and gardening. The Fallbrook Garden Club will be actively participating this year with three special events during that week.

On Sunday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the club will be hosting self-guided tours of the native plant gardens at Live Oak Park on Reche Rd. The public is invited to tour the garden and learn about plants native and adapted to this area and local wildlife. Anyone who has never been to Live Oak Park will be given the opportunity to enjoy one of the hidden treasures of San Diego County. Bert and Sharon Kersy will display owl boxes and show videos of live owls.

On Thursday, June 9, parents and friends of the La Paloma Jr. Garden Club will be invited to visit the school garden, followed by a tour of TumbleDown Creek Train at the home of Dave and Tressie Crocker.

The Fallbrook Village Square, located at the corner of Alvarado and Main Streets, will be alive on Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with many activities for children and adults, including demonstrations on composting, worm castings and floral design as well as a plant and craft sale. Special guest Dan Myer from Grangetto’s will give short talks on organic gardening, fertilizing and pest control. Rommie and Nicki Huntington of Sand Fire Dragon Ranch in Bonsall will exhibit reptiles and frogs.

Look for the green and white balloon displays! For more information call Debbie Ipsen at (760) 723-4341.
