"Defending Life" event well attended

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Pregnancy Resource Center’s (FPRC) eighth annual fundraising banquet “Defending Life,” held February 23 at Zion Lutheran Church drew an overflow crowd.

Organizers said Sean McDowell, a Christian apologist and author, served as the keynote speaker and provided a “poignant and memorable message.”

FPRC director Claire Cheely said many of the attendees commented on the outstanding evening. Cheely said “excellent” table service was provided by youth from North Coast Church.

“People from the community, various churches, and organizations underwrote the event and sponsored tables,” said Cheely. “The generous gifts received reflect the heartfelt concern for defending life in Fallbrook.”

At the event, Senator Joel Anderson’s representative, Christian Pedersen presented a certificate of appreciation to the Knights of Columbus Fallbrook Council 7069, “for their generous support toward the purchase of the ultrasound machine for Fallbrook Pregnancy Resource Center.” The Knights also received a plaque of appreciation from the FPRC board.

“The Knights have been instrumental in assisting the FPRC in many ways, including providing and preparing the banquet’s excellent meal,” said Cheely.

The FPRC provides service to those in the community with an unplanned pregnancy. FPRC offers free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds to those who qualify, parenting classes, material assistance, referrals to local resources, and counseling.

“The center will soon become licensed as a medical clinic so that more services can be offered to those in need,” said Cheely.
