Doctors Moody to serve in China

Dr. William Moody and Dr. Ana Moody, a husband and wife team of physicians, are moving to China in March with their two sons, Matthew, age 14, and Joshua, age 11. Dr. William Moody is a pediatrician and Dr. Ana Moody is a family practice physician. The Moodys are looking forward to working with special-needs orphans in the Langfang Children’s Village, about one hour south of Beijing.

The work will be coordinated by The Philip Hayden Foundation, which provides health care for children who range in age from infants to three-year-olds, and who are afflicted with various physical ailments and conditions. Some of the children are brought to the Village from orphanages and others are dropped off anonymously at the front gate. The children receive medical attention for their particular need and are housed at the Children’s Village until they are adopted.

Dr. William Moody, who has operated a pediatrics practice in Fallbrook for several years, has worked with Medicare patients and has also served many of Fallbrook’s Hispanic citizens. Both Doctors Moody wish to express thanks to their Fallbrook patients. “We have loved and appreciated all of our patients and will miss them.”

Perhaps Dr. William Moody’s most significant accomplishment was the founding of the CATCH Committee (Children’s Access to Health), which is a vital and growing community organization with a long list of community health projects including Type 2 Diabetes prevention, and nutrition counseling. His colleagues and friends said goodbye to him at a well-attended farewell reception last week at Fallbrook Hospital.

“We are very thankful for Dr. [William] Moody’s 22 years of dedication to Fallbrook Hospital and to serving the medical needs of the children in our community,” said Monique Murphy-Mijares, Hospital spokesperson. “We sincerely wish him and his family well in this worthwhile endeavor.”

The Moodys made a trip to the Langfang Children’s Village in September of 2004 and, after that visit, were inspired to make the move. “We decided that our services were greatly needed,” explained Ana. The Moodys will help set up a new medical clinic where they will attend to the needs of the afflicted children. The Moodys both agreed that, “They needed doctors and the timing was just right.” However, they will not receive a salary and must rely solely on support raising ventures.
