Growers' school in Fallbrook to focus on protea growing and marketing

To help growers take advantage of the unique climate we have for growing proteas, the California Protea Association, together with the California Ornamental Research Federation (CORF), is sponsoring a protea growers’ school May 24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Resendiz Brothers Protea Growers in Fallbrook.

The program features knowledgeable speakers on topics important to starting and maintaining a protea plantation.Topics include: history, planning, field prep and planting, growing and maintaining the crop (including pest and disease pressure), harvesting, post-harvest care, marketing and sourcing.

Special guest René van Rems, AIFD, PFCI, will present “The Business of Selling Non-Commodity (Selling Products, Not Price).”
