Kiwanis Club to bring Bloodmobile to Fallbrook

The Bloodmobile from the San Diego Blood Bank will be in the Major Market parking lot on Saturday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Kiwanis Clubs in North County sponsor an annual month-long blood drive to help the Blood Bank meet the needs of patients in San Diego County hospitals. As an example, Children’s Hospital alone needs approximately 6,000 blood donations each year.

The purpose of bringing the Bloodmobile to Fallbrook is to make it convenient for area resident to give the “Gift of Life” as often as possible. The February 17 issue of the Village News had an excellent article on page A-34 about blood donation basics. Anyone in good health who weighs at least 110 pounds and is at least 17 years of age is encouraged to donate blood. Members of the Fallbrook High School Key Club and their sponsor, the Kiwanis Club of Fallbrook, will be on hand to greet donors and help with registration. Each donor will receive the Blood Bank’s new limited edition “Every Drop Counts” t-shirt.

Everyone planning to donate should eat a good meal and drink plenty of fluids that morning. Any questions regarding qualifications can be answered by calling 1-800-4MY-SDBB. Appointments, which will be honored first, can be made by calling the same number. Members of the Kiwanis Club of Fallbrook and Fallbrook High School Key Club invite as many members of the community to donate blood March 5.
