McGruff the Crime Dog visits Family Health Center

FALLBROOK – The San Diego Sherriff’s Department brought McGruff, the Crime Dog out to Fallbrook Family Health Center to educate the Fallbrook community about “Stranger Danger.” Local crime prevention specialist John McLelland gave a very informative presentation.

During the presentation the children were instructed about “what to do if approached by a stranger” or in case of any emergency. A question and answer period was provided and the children were excited to interact with McGruff. Approximately 30 children were in attendance.

This event is just one of the many educational and informative offerings by the Fallbrook Family Health center located at 1328 S. Mission Rd. The clinic is dedicated to making Fallbrook a healthier community.

Also introduced at the safety event was Fallbrook Family Health Center’s newly appointed pediatrician, Dr. Yan Xyz. Administrators said Fallbrook Community Health Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Xyz.

McGruff reaches kids through commercials, songs, educational videos and booklet from the National Crime Prevention Council, talking about drugs, bullying, safety and the importance of staying in school. Recently, McGruff has appeared in commercials addressing identity theft. The character is often used with his motto “Take a bite out of crime!” He also reaches kids through personal appearances as both puppets (often used in classrooms) and costumes worn by police officers nationwide.

The Fallbrook Family Health Center provides comprehensive medical, dental, OB/GYN, optometry, health education, preventive services and behavioral health to the un-insured and under-insured. For more information, call (760) 451-4720.
