Demonstration pruning seminar sponsored by SOF

Save Our Forest is bringing Mark Wizniewski, certified arborist and landscape architect, to Fallbrook for a pruning workshop on Saturday, January 22, at 10 a.m. He will demonstrate at the Palomares House, 1815 S. Stage Coach Lane. The seminar is free and the community is invited to attend.

It is exactly at the right time of year for residents to come observe the proper methods to prune all kinds of trees and shrubs. Structural pruning is most valuable in the early years of a tree’s life. Learning what to cut and how to make that cut properly is all important to the longevity of the tree. Even at a later stage, learning the structure that is best and how to achieve that ultimate goal is important to new and experienced gardeners alike.

The goal of Save Our Forest is, obviously, to continue to train volunteers. But, making the information available to all residents is also a goal. The entire community forest, in the home garden or on community streets, provides benefits for a healthful environment. As our community grows in numbers, so must our tree population.
