East Ridge

Our rolling hills and rural lifestyle combine with a magnetic pull. Having spacious houses surrounded by an acre or more of “Fallbrook green” is a joy for nearly everyone… but there’s a time in life when a smaller in-town group of nice homes with community togetherness has appeal, too! Many of our longtime residents have found East Ridge to be an ideal compromise.

Behind the gates of this attractive neighborhood are activities that few of us enjoy in our own homes: a clubhouse with activities and an exercise room, pool, tennis, gardening spaces and even an area for motor home storage. There is no lack of social opportunity for almost any activity and downtown is just a couple of miles away.

Frank and Judy Messina are among the more recent converts. They had found that their spacious hillside home and acreage was limiting the free time they had for travel and other interests. The very small lot and nice house they moved to in East Ridge offered a prime opportunity for them to make minor changes to the exterior and interior of the house to fit their tastes.

Frank, a retired architect, started with the front lawn area. Judy applied her decorator skills to the patio and interior. Together, they expanded the kitchen and eating space and tackled changing wall colors throughout the house. New patio floor finish and furnishings expanded this outdoor space into a bright “view room” all across the east side of the house.

Today the entry garden is a flowered space with Asian influence. The house is comfortably spacious and freshly decorated. Several fruit trees continue to grow at the rear of the house.

The Messinas are at home in East Ridge — and they are more than ever aware of this as a very appealing option for senior living in this well planned and maintained community.
