FLC presents 'Backyard Birds'

The second in the 2005 Fallbrook Land Conservancy’s Community Educational Series will be presented at the Fallbrook Public Utility Community Room on Thursday, March 31, at 7:00 p.m. Fallbrook, a bird watcher’s paradise, is highly populated with many varieties of birds. Over 100 different species have been documented at Los Jilgueros Preserve.

The presentation is meant for non-birders and novice birders, mainly, but all bird watchers will enjoy the show. Equipped with a wonderful slideshow to accompany his talk, Doug Nail will tell about what birds we see here, how we can identify them and how we can attract them. Doug and his wife Mickey have lived in Fallbrook four years and both lead bird outings for the Palomar Chapter of the Audubon Society. They have birded all over the country and have a great deal to share.

At least two other segments of the series are planned. The next will be on June 29. The topic will be “Pests and Fertilizers.” For questions regarding this next seminar, please call the Fallbrook Land Conservancy office at (760) 728-0889.
