Grange sweeps Market Pen Chicken class at fair

DEL MAR — The North County Grange Youth Fair Team started this year’s San Diego County Fair with a bang!

Aspen Komski won Grand Champion Meat Pen of Chickens and Natalie Paxton won Reserve Grand Champion Meat Pen of Chickens. The object of a chicken meat pen is to select four meat chickens of similar type, weight and body style to compete as a quartet. Both of these pens will be auctioned off July 2 at the San Diego County Fair’s Junior Livestock Auction.
