Invasive Plant Team removes two tons of ice plant

FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Land Conservancy’s Invasive Plant Team met on Saturday, January 29, at 8 a.m. on a beautiful winter morning and removed about two tons of Hottentot Fig (Carpobrotus edulis) ice plant on Phase II of the Cienega Creek Project on Stage Coach Lane. The Fallbrook Land Conservancy has received a grant from the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Partners for Fish and Wildlife, to remove invasive non-native plants and replant with native trees and plants native to San Diego County.

The FLC Invasive Plant Team meets the last Saturday of the month to remove invasive plants that are competing for space with the native flora on one of the seven preserves the Fallbrook Land Conservancy manages. If you would like to join the Invasive Plant Team, call the Fallbrook Land Conservancy at (760) 728-0889 and leave a message. The next meeting will be on Saturday, February 26; location to be announced.
