LAFCO approves FPUD sewer latent powers expansion

The Local Agency Formation Commission approved a sewer service latent powers expansion for the Fallbrook Public Utility District.

The August 1 approval expands FPUD’s sewer latent power area by 16.24 acres, which covers three current parcels. The Lash family, which owns the property, plans to develop 20 single-family homes on the site south of Stage Coach Lane and east of Brooke Road.

LAFCO consolidated the Fallbrook Public Utility District and the Fallbrook Sanitary District in 1994. The boundaries of the two agencies differed, and FPUD does not have sewer service authority in areas outside the pre-merger sanitation district unless LAFCO grants a latent powers expansion.

The site is within the FPUD water service area and adjacent to FPUD’s existing sewer latent powers area. The landowner will finance a connection of approximately 250 feet which will link to FPUD’s existing sewer system.
