21-year old man from Humboldt busted in Bonsall

A 24-year-old man from Humboldt County was arrested in Bonsall Tuesday morning, March 24, for possession of marijuana for sale and transporting marijuana for sale.

According to Sheriff's Sgt. Patrick Yates, Adam Mathison was with a female companion, parked in the 2700 block of Pala Road when a deputy approached him. The deputy immediately smelled the distinct odor of marijuana.

"The subjects advised the deputy that they were 'sunning themselves because it improves their serotonin,'" said Yates. "Within the vehicle, the deputy found large quantities of marijuana and concentrated cannabis." The result was 8.87 lbs of processed marijuana ($18,000 value), 13 ounces of concentrated cannabis ($15,000 value), and 20 grams of additional marijuana rolled into cigarette form.

Yates said Mathison admitted that the substances were his and that he brought them from Humboldt County to use at a "gathering" taking place on the Pauma Indian Reservation.

Mathison was arrested on numerous charges and booked into the Vista Jail.
