FALLBROOK – In the months of February and March collectively, the Angel Society of Fallbrook donated $21,074.94 to local, worthy causes. The ongoing large number of donations made by the organization is a result of funds raised through its Angel Shop thrift store.
In February, $10,850 in donations was distributed to the following:
• MAAC Project Head Start Fallbrook II - was awarded $250 for garden materials for the Fallbrook View Center’s outside spring garden.
• Eagle Scout candidate Keegan LaBanz, Troop 739 – was awarded $300 for materials to install trail markers along riding trails for REINS Therapeutic Horsemanship Program.
• Operation Clear Vision (a non-profit organization of Dr. John P. Fitzpatrick, a certified therapeutic optometrist who donates services and helps San Diego military dependents) - was awarded $500 to help keep the program of low cost glasses alive.
• Eagle Young Marines of the Marine Corps League (a non-profit youth organization dedicated to self-improvement, academics, and community) - was awarded $800.
• TERI (Training, Education, Research & Innovation, which aids adults with autism and other development disabilities at Via Rio House in Fallbrook) - was awarded $1,000 for purchase and installation of a two-sided shade cloth over the patio seating area.
• Friends of the Fallbrook Community Center - was awarded $2,000 to help with the center’s summer camp programs.
• Rally for Children, Arts in the Park - was awarded $2,500 to help with programs and activities for children’s exploration of the arts at the 19th annual Arts in the Park.
• Fallbrook Gem & Mineral Society - was awarded $3,500 to help with hosting their many field trips for schools, scout troops and other children’s groups.
In March, $10,224.94 in funding was donated to these causes:
• Eagle Scout candidate Finn McGrath - was awarded $500 to provide and assemble a handicapped- friendly bleacher for the Fallbrook High School junior varsity tennis courts.
• Fallbrook Alumni Association - was awarded $600 to help purchase and fill 30 backpacks with school supplies for needy students.
• Foundation for Senior Care - was awarded $624.94 to purchase a new laptop computer.
• Fallbrook Child Development Center - $2,500 was awarded for instructional supplies for children ages one to five, i.e. art supplies, manipulatives, educational games, etc.
• Fallbrook Land Conservancy - $6,000 was awarded to help maintain local preserves and its trails and the firescape garden.
