Annual Auction and Kentucky Derby Ball set

FALLBROOK — Excitement is already building as the Boys and Girls Club of North County announces their annual Auction and Dinner Ball, which will be held on Saturday, May 7, at the Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook. This year’s theme is “Talk Derby to Me” in honor of the Kentucky Derby being held on the same day as the club’s event.

This “Making a Difference” event is the highlight of the Club’s fundraising program and benefits the Boys and Girls Clubs of North County and the North County Times Charities Fund, a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation, by providing necessary funds to continue critical programs and activities serving nearly 2,500 children and their families in the communities of Fallbrook, Bonsall and Pala.

American icon, singer/songwriter and Grammy award-winner Willie Nelson will be this year’s Honorary Chairperson.

The evening will be begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction featuring over 100 items, including sports memorabilia, beauty services, dinners, art, jewelry, plants, antique furniture and more! The evening will continue with dining, dancing and a live auction.

Over 20 specially selected live auction items will be featured and will include a signed Willie Nelson guitar and tour jackets from his Farm Aid and On the Road tours; a custom-designed diamond and 14k gold horseshoe necklace; an AKC Labrador puppy; a fantasy vacation anywhere in the world, including 100,000 air miles; a trip to Santa Fe, NM, for four, including hotel accommodations and airfare plus tickets to the world renowned Santa Fe Opera; and much, much more. Entertainment will be provided throughout the evening and guest celebrities will be in attendance.

Sam and Ann Logan, auction chairpersons, said, “The Boys and Girls Club budget is $866,000. These funds are made available through various fundraisers throughout the year and from outstanding community support. The Auction and Kentucky Derby Ball is yet another way the community can support the mission of the organization to help it maintain its image as ‘The Positive Place for Kids.’ It’s the best ‘win/win’ we’ve ever seen; you get to have the time of your life and fill your heart up at the same time making a real difference for our kids!”

Tickets for the auction and dinner are available now by calling (760) 728-5871 or visiting the club’s Web site at http://www.bgcnorthcounty.com. Sponsorship opportunities can still be accommodated for the event.
