Bonsall Country Festival to include 'Boot Scootin' Country Music Concert, Dance'

FALLBROOK – The Bonsall Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its 10th anniversary of its Country Festival on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. New this year will be a “Boot Scootin’ Country Music Concert/Dance” from 6 to 9 p.m.

The events will be held at the historic Valley Fort Steakhouse, Saloon & Country Venue, located at 3757 S. Mission Road between Bonsall and Fallbrook. The Fort is owned by Chamber members Hank and Patty Hornsveld.

The Hornsveld’s beautiful, renovated, four-acre property is a perfect venue for a traditional country setting with a Sheriff’s office and town buildings, barns, a babbling brook with water wheel, and features an outdoor stage and dance floor. It is shaded by some of the largest and oldest trees in the area.

The event will feature barbecue and saloon libations available from the Valley Fort Steakhouse; other festival foods and beverages including rootbeer floats; 25 vendor booths, a kid’s area with bounce house, horses and chickens, live children’s entertainment with the Escondido Mounted Posse, antique fire truck, a musical instrument petting zoo, and roping demonstrations with authentic cowboy Sonny Grant (with photo opportunities).

Other live entertainment will include the Pala Band of Indians Kupa Song and Dance Group, a martial arts demonstration by ATA Success Martial Arts, bluegrass music by Duo Eclettico, drumming by the Fallbrook Drum Circle and belly dancer.

Pay to put someone in jail! Valley Center ‘Marshal’s Jail’ will be on hand to jail individuals so they have to pay to get out (benefit for Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary).

Wear country apparel and be part of the country festival ambiance and enter the costume contest! The contest will feature cash prizes for Best Male, Best Female, Best Kid, and Best Family costumes.

Bonsall’s new Honorary Mayor will be announced along with three winners from mayoral raffle ticket sales.

Admission to the festival is free, but organizers ask attendees to bring non-perishable items to donate to the Fallbrook Food Pantry.

The outdoor evening concert/dance will feature live music by country band “The California Rangers.” Concert/dance tickets are $10/person, all ages welcome.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at http://www.bonsallchamber.org (select ‘Country Festival’).
