Double fatality occurs on South Mission Road in Fallbrook

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has reported that two people, a man and a woman, lost their lives early this morning when the vehicle they were in veered off South Mission Road and struck a tree.

The accident occurred at South Mission Road and Overland Trail, just south of the Fallbrook High School campus, at approximately 2:15 a.m. Unconfirmed information suggests that the vehicle was traveling southbound, in excess of 90 miles per hour, when the crash occurred.

The CHP said the driver of the 1995 Nissan Altima was a 38-year-old Fallbrook man. An approximate age or city of residence was not provided regarding the female passenger.

Both individuals were killed upon impact.

Officers said it is unknown at this time whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision.

Authorities said the identities of the victims are being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.

Two people killed in crash in Fallbrook

FALLBROOK - Two people were killed when a vehicle crashed off a roadway in Fallbrook early today, authorities said.

The double fatality off South Mission Road and Overland Trail was reported at 2:18 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

No other details were immediately released.
