Fallbrook Scarecrow Days experiences casualties

FALLBROOK – Friday night, Oct. 5, was a busy night at Denny’s according to staff working that evening. When a huge group of high school students left the restaurant it was quiet. When that shift ended the staff went out to bring the scarecrow created by the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) group at Fallbrook High School for the month long event “Fallbrook Scarecrow Days,” but it was gone.

Not only the scarecrow, but the base secured with 18 inch rebar was gone also leaving only the sign on the easel. It had to be difficult to remove. The scarecrow was last seen wearing white pants and a silver tunic.

Also destroyed was the St. Peter’s School entry at the corner of Stage Coach Lane and Fallbrook St. Advice from the Scarecrow committee is “take your ward in at night to prevent the goblins from getting them.”

Fallbrook Scarecrow Days, initiated by a group of residents to help Fallbrook businesses is meant to attract visitors to Fallbrook to see 100 plus Scarecrows positioned at locations in the greater Fallbrook area. Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Scarecrow display to make October a great time to visit Fallbrook.

Please kidnappers, return the AVID group’s female astronaut. It stressed anything is possible for anyone in today’s world. If anyone has any information which can lead to her recovery, they are asked to contact contact Karen Langer Baker at (760) 500-0393 or [email protected], or call the Fallbrook Sheriff’s substation at (760) 728-1113.
