Final defendant in Mose murder pleads guilty

Robert Ramos, the fourth and final defendant in the January 2011 murder of 24-year-old Kenneth Mose, recently pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter with a gang allegation. He will be sentenced on April 12 in Vista Superior Court.

According to Assistant District Attorney Geoff Allard of the Gang Prosecution Unit, Ramos pleaded guilty on Jan. 5. Allard said he could not comment further on the case.

During preliminaries, Allard had presented information during court proceedings that indicated the various levels of involvement the four suspects have had in the street gang dominated by Latinos.

Salvador Lopez, Gonzalo Ordonez, and Enrique Martinez were also involved in the murder of Mose, a black man who had recently moved to Fallbrook from Alabama. He had been walking near a fast food restaurant located on Ammunition Road when he was attacked by the men, and stabbed multiple times. Mose was rushed to Palomar Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

Ramos, Lopez, Ordonez and Martinez had all originally pleaded not guilty to murder in the case, but Lopez, Ordonez and Martinez all eventually entered a change of plea from not guilty to murder to a plea of guilty to voluntary manslaughter in Vista Superior Court at various times in 2011.

In September, it had been determined that Lopez personally killed Mose with the use of a knife because of his race and for the benefit of the criminal street gang Lopez was affiliated with. It was stipulated that Ordonez’ involvement occurred because of the “sudden quarrel.”
