Firefighters make quick work of Rainbow brush fire

RAINBOW – Firefighters quickly contained a small brush fire near unincorporated Rainbow in northern San Diego County Saturday, Oct. 7.

The fire – near Rice Canyon and Huntley roads, about 10 miles south of Temecula – broke out about 4 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The blaze, visible from Interstate 15, was estimated at one acre in size, Cal Fire officials said.

Firefighters managed to stop forward progress of the blaze just before 5 p.m., officials said.
