Food drive for Fallbrook Food Pantry is on April 27

FALLBROOK – Helping Hands, a community interfaith food drive, will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 8 a.m. to noon for the Fallbrook Food Pantry. This will be the biggest one-day interfaith food drives for the Fallbrook Food Pantry ever held in Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow and De Luz.

Residents are asked to get involved by looking for a food drop off in one of the following locations: Vallecitos School in Rainbow; Maie Ellis Elementary School, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Sheriff Sub-Station, all in Fallbrook.

Food can also be dropped off at these markets: Albertson’s, Major Market, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, Northgate Market, and Daniel’s Apple Market in River Village. The Bonsall Digiplex Theater (previously Ultra Star) will give customers one medium size popcorn for every 10 cans or boxes of food brought into the theater between April 25 and May 5.

Food that is most needed for contribution are canned meat (tuna, ham, chicken), canned soup, canned or dried fruits, canned vegetables, dried beans, rice and cereal, peanut butter, powdered milk, infant formula, packaged nuts and seeds, and dried pasta. The foods can be close to the expiration or use by date.

Residents can contact their own churches to see if they are participating. The Fallbrook Rotary Club will be helping to collect the food. Contact Milt Davies with any questions, (760) 504-5968.
