Four vehicle accident claims life of motorcyclist, leaves wife in critical condition

A four vehicle accident Sunday afternoon (January 25) on Old Hwy 395 claimed the life of a male motorcyclist and left his wife in life-threatening condition.

According to CHP assistant public information officer, Gil Ochoa, the following is what took place:

"On January 25, at approximately 1:53 p.m., an 18-year-old woman was driving a white 2001 Mercedes E-320 southbound on Old Highway 395, north of Dulin Road at an unknown speed, approaching stopped traffic."

"A white 2003 Honda Accord, being driven by a 19-year-old woman was stopped at the intersection of Dulin Road. A gray 2101 Toyota, being driven by a 68-year-old woman was stopped ahead of the Honda Accord."

"A 63-year-old man was driving a red 2007 Harley Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle, with a 61-year-old female passenger, northbound on Old Hwy 395, and approaching the intersection at Dulin Road."

"For unknown reasons, the driver of the Mercedes did not stop in time and struck the rear of the Honda Accord. The collision pushed the Honda into the rear of the Toyota. The Mercedes veered left, into the opposing lane of traffic, and struck the Harley Davidson. The driver and passenger of the Harley Davidson were ejected from the motorcycle."

"The driver of the Mercedes sustained minor abrasions on her arms. The driver of the Honda and the Toyota did not claim any injuries. The driver and passenger of the Harley Davidson motorcycle sustained numerous blunt trauma injuries."

"The driver of the motorcycle and passenger were transported by air and ground ambulance to Palomar Medical Center. The driver of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital."

The female passenger was being treated for life-threatening injuries, other sources said.

According to Ochoa, the investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved in the crash.

Motorcyclist killed, passenger left with life-threatening injuries in collision on Old Hwy 395 at Dulin Road

Early reports are coming in that a couple riding on a motorcycle were involved in a collision with another vehicle Sunday afternoon (January 25) at Old Highway 395 and Dulin Road in Fallbrook.

As a result of the incident, the man was reportedly killed and his wife taken by medical helicopter to an area trauma center with life-threatening injuries. The couple was believed to be in their mid-60s.

More information on this incident is expected later today and will be posted when received.
