Free workshop on college financial aid

FALLBROOK – On Thursday, Oct. 4, from 7 to 8 p.m., Ken Finster of Cyan Retirement Strategies will present a free college financial planning workshop in the community room at Fallbrook Library, 124 S. Mission Rd.

The workshop will cover how to reduce the out-of-pocket cost of college, how college selection affects costs, the truth about private vs. public colleges, financial aid sources, and how to improve financial aid qualification.

In light of skyrocketing costs, and the number of local high school graduates going on to college, this free workshop is meant to educate families on the basic structure of the college financial aid world. Examples will be offered, and best practices discussed. In addition, college costs will be put in perspective relative to other family financial goals, such as retirement savings.
