Girl Scouts of Troop 4620 receive Silver Award

FALLBROOK – Seven Girl Scouts with Fallbrook Troop 4620 have earned the Girl Scout Silver Award this year and were honored for that achievement on Nov. 17 at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. The award is the highest that can be earned by Girl Scout Cadettes. The local recipients are: Courtney Baker Marshall, Rachel Collier, Madeleine Gillcrist, Lila Krane, Milan Lambert-Magana, Jenny Shedd and Simone Stubbs.

The Girl Scouts of Troop 4620 have had plenty of opportunities to partake in volunteerism in Fallbrook.

The majority of these girls have been in scouts for over 10 years, from the time they were Daisies. They have experienced firsthand the many volunteer organizations which make this friendly village a productive and safe haven.

Earlier this year, the troop put on Fallbrook’s first “Thanks-4-Giving” volunteer dinner at St. Peter the Apostle Parish Hall. They invited volunteers of the Fallbrook Food Pantry, North County Fire, the Senior Volunteer Patrol of the Sheriff’s Fallbrook substation, Fallbrook’s honorary mayor (at the time), and the supportive owners of Major Market.

The dinner was well attended by over 60 volunteers. Members of the troop said the “Thanks-4-Giving” dinner and subsequent achievement of their Silver Awards would not have been possible without the help of many people and local businesses, their advisors, and mothers.
