Grange members have a ball at Jamboree

Rainbow Valley Grange hosted the Southern California Grange Jamboree/Family Camp the weekend of August 11 and 12. Thirty-four people enjoyed a variety of activities including craft projects, a sleepover at the Grange Hall and a trip to the paintball park on Camp Pendleton. A total of 13 junior members, seven youth and 14 adults, including two families from Rubidoux Grange in Riverside County, participated in various parts of the Jamboree.

Suzy Moramarco, Rainbow Valley Junior Grange leader, served as camp director and organizer of the tie-dye t-shirt project. Other Rainbow Valley Grange members leading activities were Dave Fontana, birdhouse building; Sandi Fontana, leather tooling; Tracy Lathrop, jam making; Ingrid Dunckel, egg decorating; Cynthia Komski, mosaics; Madison Donoghue, friendship bracelets; and Ed Komski, paintball trip. Many of these projects can be entered in the California State Grange Expo at the State Grange Convention in October.

Everyone enjoyed the meals planned by Ingrid Dunckel and Cynthia Komski, especially the BBQ lunch cooked by Ed Komski, president of Rainbow Valley Grange.

Saturday evening’s program included a slideshow on the Grange Youth Fair Team at the San Diego County Fair and a showing of “Night at the Museum.” Six kids and two adults spent the night at the Grange, several sleeping out in the backyard. The next morning, 15 people had a great time at the paintball park while six of the ladies appreciated a quiet morning to finish up their craft projects.
